The Orchid that didn’t Bloom
Unfortunately, the creator is not proceeding with a groupbuy.
Vanda is inspired by our national orchid flower, Vanda Miss Joaquim. Vanda is a 60% gummy o-ring mount keyboard with a 6 degree typing angle. There isn’t much going on in terms of design with a simple Vanda signature on the bottom of the case as well as an engraved Orchid design by the USB port. It has an internal brass weight as well. And if you aren’t looking closely, you’d think the Vanda is purely a rectangle. It’s not. Gentle curves accentuate the shape of the Vanda and distinguishes it from a boring rectangle. The olive green here looks really good, very muted and neutral in tone. It has a textured finish so I think it will withstand scratches well.
Unfortunately, the creator is not proceeding with a groupbuy. I can’t say I disagree with the decision - there is too much competition in the budget tier of keyboards. Vanda is a great keyboard but there aren’t many features to set this one apart from other 60%’s that are already in the market. It is also a bad time for the hobby in general, with prices of metals going up and up, making this creation more expensive to realize than previous. There are simply not enough justifications for it going into groupbuy.
The Vanda is probably not going to bloom anytime soon.
